Broadway fans are in for a treat. Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown is bringing his solo show downtown to the Abrons Arts Center for three nights in April. The concert will feature another Tony winner (and rising star), Anika Noni Rose, with an eight-piece band performing songs from Jason’s acclaimed musicals (such as Songs for a New World, Parade, The Last Five Years, and 13) as well as his solo albums and upcoming projects.
As Playbill.com notes, “Rose won her Tony Award for her performance in Caroline, or Change. She also co-starred in the ‘Dreamgirls’ film and was seen in HBO’s ‘The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.’ Rose can be seen on the small screen in the role of Wendy Scott-Carr in ‘The Good Wife.’ Oh, and not to mention, she is also known for voicing the role of Princess Tiana, the lead character in the animated motion picture “The Princess and the Frog.” Brown won a Tony Award for his score to Parade. $35 // April 28-30 // 8 pm // 466 Grand Street.
