Current real-life member of the Presidential advance team, Paul Oakley Stovall, is bringing a workshop production of his “loosely-fictionalized musical” CLEAR to Dixon Place for a special three-week run. The show, which opens tonight, is loosely based on Stovall’s experience as an event organizer for Barack Obama. Stovall plays an out-of-work actor whose gay and black identities are thrown into the mix of an unlikely electoral campaign. The musical score, written by Oakley, includes contributions from Stew (Passing Strange), Ryan Link, Christo Willis and Irv Johnson — fusing “music, memory and pure love to remind us how to live fully and thrive.” Read an interview with Stovall in Time Out here. $15 advance, $18 door // 7:30pm // Thurs-Sat., Feb. 3 -19 // 161A Chrystie Street.
