This coming Sunday, members of the American Contemporary Music Ensemble will be performing at P.S. 142. The event is a fundraiser for the parent-teacher association, which has been dealing with the loss of the school’s music program, due to budget cutbacks.
The program is part of the Neighborhood Classics Series, organized by acclaimed classical pianist Simone Dinnerstein. She created the organization last year to establish bonds between musicians and neighborhoods. The musicians donate their time — profits benefit community schools and students.
Sunday’s concert will include pieces by Philip Glass, Phil Kline, Sarah Kirkland Snider and Nico Muhly. It begins at 4pm, at P.S. 142, 100 Attorney Street. Tickets are $15 at the door.
