Steve Herrick, executive director of the Cooper Square Committee, passed along info about the organization’s big gala coming up Monday night:
The Cooper Square Committee, a non-profit tenants rights and housing preservation organization, is holding our 51st Anniversary Fundraising Gala titled “Celebrating East 4th Street” on Monday, October 25th, from 6 pm – 9 pm at 59-61 East 4th Street, 4th floor loft.
We will be honoring several people who have made a valuable contribution to revitalizing East 4th Street as a mixed income, mixed use cultural district. Our honorees include Val Orselli, Executive Director of the Cooper Square Mutual Housing Association; Tamara Greenfield, Executive Director of Fourth Arts Block; Christian Valerio, Housing Specialist of Cooper Square Committee; and Barbara Shaum, owner of Fine Leather Work at 60 E. 4th Street. Several elected officials will be in attendance.
The event will be catered by Peruvian restaurant Senor Pollo, Mexican Restaurant El Maguey Y La Tuna and Latin Country restaurant Gena’s Grill. There will be live music by the Paladin Quartet and by solo guitarist Paul Bergel. Tickets can be purchased at www.coopersquare.org for $50. Special discount tickets are available to Cooper Square Committee members.
