The HOWL! Arts Festival is set to come roaring back this weekend with a full schedule of music, dance, poetry and art (not to mention many community organizations and environmental booths) lined up in Tompkins Square Park. This year, The Lower Eastside Girls Club is jumping in and joining the fun with “The East Village Girls Club Earth Circus,” offering a slew of kid-friendly events and activities geared around environmental awareness within the park.
They write:
This will be a community fair to remember. Not a tube sock or greasy sausage to be found. Kids can get their face painted by pros, ask the fortune telling monkey what the future holds, watch a puppet show, and enjoy organic popcorn and cotton candy. For parents and friends: visit the environmental information booths, meet community change makers, and stop by Mom’s Café at The Lower Eastside Girls Club “Girlville” tent for a healthy lunch and enjoy the day!
The festival kicks off this evening with the traditional reading of Allen Ginsberg’s poem, Howl. For a full listing of the Girls Club events, visit their website here. For a full listing of HOWL! events, visit their site here.
