“National Night Out” on the Lower East Side

Must Read

This morning (and last week) we mentioned “National Night Out Against Crime,” an annual event held in neighborhoods across the country. As we indicated, the 7th Precinct’s version of NNO will be held from 4:30-8pm on East Broadway, between Jefferson and Clinton.  But there are other “National Night Out” events on the Lower East Side this evening.

The 9th Precinct will begin festivities at 3pm, on East 5th Street (between 1st & 2nd Avenues). The 5th Precinct’s gathering will be in Columbus Park, starting at 4pm. And Police Service Area 4 (which is responsible for the neighborhood’s public housing developments) holds its NNO event on the baseball field at the Smith Houses, from 4-8pm. National Night Out, in its 27th year, is meant to create greater awareness about crime and drug prevention. At each location, here will be food, music and games for the kids.
