Lovers of Hate film still

Rooftop Films is back on the Lower East Side at the Open Road Rooftop this weekend, both Friday and Saturday night. This evening they will present New York Non-Fiction: “Scratches, beats, and elegies from New York City.” Tomorrow night they are screening a special sneak preview of Lovers of Hate, a film by Bryan Poyser about sibling rivalry taken to an absurd extreme.  The film was well-received at Sundance and South by Southwest and is being distributed by IFC Films.  $10 // 8pm // 350 Grand St. // Live music precedes both screenings // After party with open bar at Fontana’s afterwards.


Dutch artist Nicoline van Harskamp will present the US premiere of Expressive Power Series Part 1: Max Bonner on the Phenomenology of Speech (2010) at The New Museum tonight. Offering a new performance that builds upon an expansive body of work focused on politics and language. $10 Members, $12 General Admission // 7pm // 235 Bowery.

This weekend’s Midnight Movie at the Sunshine is one of the first (and best) Scorsese/De Niro classics (with a young Jodi Foster, to boot), Taxi Driver.  $9.99 // midnight // 143 E. Houston.
