Two Boots on Grand Street is Closing

Must Read

It’s been rumored for awhile on the local message boards. Now here’s the confirmation: the Two Boots location on Grand Street is shutting down, after toughing it out for three years.

In this letter posted outside the restaurant, owner Phil Hartman says he tried everything (promotion, live music, poetry readings) but that the “demographics of this location proved to be too daunting.” Hartman reports a restaurant/bar featuring reasonably priced food from New Mexico will be taking Two Boots’ place.

Their last day will be Sunday, May 9th. There are several other Two Boots restaurants in Manhattan, including the original location on East 3rd Street. And fear not, Below Delancey Dwellers: Urban Daddy says Painkiller (in the old East Side Company Bar) space opens on Thursday.

Thanks to eagle-eyed tipster Jennifer Strom for alerting us to the news.
