Spreading Compost and a Little Love in Seward Park

Must Read

We’ve talked so much lately about the effort to revitalize Luther Gulick Park. But let’s not forget that another group, the Friends of Seward Park, have done some really amazing work over the past several years to beautify a neighborhood resource that had also been neglected.

But the green thumb is apparently contagious: we received an email the other day from an organization that will also be doing its part in Seward Park,  this weekend. “Dating for a Cause” will be holding its monthly volunteer event in the park Saturday from 10-1.

According to their web site, Dating for a Cause “spreads love one charity at a time.”  Here’s the scoop:

Our first volunteer event at Seward Park was phenomenal! Robert, the NYC Parks manager was very impressed with not only the turnout (the largest volunteer team he’s ever had), but also praised the effort and camaraderie the volunteers all showed. Every volunteer we’ve talked to loved it, commenting that it was fun and well-organized. Seward Park’s funding has been cut drastically and Robert is doing everything he can to maintain the beauty of this historical park with his already limited resources. As a result, we’ve decided to lend our helping hands to Seward Park every month. And we hope you can do the same and join us in our efforts to beautify our park!
