We’ve asked musician Ken Beasley to highlight a few live shows happening on the LES this week. Here are his picks:
Wednesday, March 17th – Capsule + Nomos + Death First + Pollution at Cake Shop: As part of their “No Worms” tour, Florida post-hardcore group Capsule brings their volume and energy to Cakeshop. If you like it loud, you’ll be in the right place.
March 17th & 18th (Wed) Thurs. – The Scissor Sisters at Bowery Ballroom: The hot, dance-rock band, The Scissor Sisters, uses their time between albums to play a couple shows at the Bowery Ballroom. 8pm.
Fri., March 19th – Railbird + Mr. North + Hey Sailor! + Adam Levy at Rockwood Music Hall: Adam Levy, the talented, and highly recognizable, guitarist who has teamed up with the likes of Norah Jones, Amber Rubarth, and Jenny Scheinman, presents some of his own recent compositions, ranging from singer-songwriter tunes to jazzy instrumentals, at Rockwood Music Hall. 5pm.
Sat., March 20th – Rova Sax Quartet at The Stone: Coming in from San Francisco, the all saxophone ensemble, Rova Sax Quartet, will weave their experimental jazz runs all night at John Zorn’s intimate space The Stone, with the man himself joining in for the 10pm set.
Sun., March 21st – Jay Banerjee & the Heartthrobs + The Roulette Sisters + The Debutante Hour + Schwervon! at Mercury Lounge: The Roulette Sisters and the Debutante Hour showcase their retro sounds at the Mercury, harking back to the stylings of Patsy Cline and Rosemary Clooney. 7pm.
