Jen Rucker from P.S.110’s parent association is getting the word out about their big fundraiser coming up this weekend. She sent us the following info:
Our 3rd annual auction for the arts is this Saturday, March 20. The theme this year is Flashback to the 80’s. We will do our best to transform the school with 80’s movies, spandex and maybe even a little graffiti…
We are hoping people will dig deep in the closet (and their pockets) to come dressed for the occasion, although “no jacket required!” It’ll be a Kid Free Zone (must be over 21) with food and drinks, as everyone gets to rock out again for one night and bid on items to benefit our school. We are offering restaurant certificates, hotel stays, artworks, theater tickets and lots more. Items can be viewed (and we are still adding) at www.biddingforgood/ps110pta.
Doors open at 6:45pm, silent auction runs from 7:00pm -8:30pm and followed by the live auction at 8:45pm Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.ps110pta.com or at the door.
The budget cuts have caused schools to cut back on enrichment programs, forcing the parents to find ways to raise money. These programs include dance, theater, art, etc. The auction as been helpful the past two years to help fund these programs. Some of the programs and items we have been able to offer are Tada!, National Dance Institute, kids in the game to name, art supplies, musical instruments and gym equipment to few. And now that bake sales have been restricted (at least for now), it is important that we try to raise as much as we can during this event to keep these programs in place until next year…when we will do it all again.!
