This just in from the New York Times: Il Laboratorio del Gelato, the gourmet icecream shrine on Orchard Street, is moving into a huge new space on Ludlow, just below Houston, in June. Owner Jon Snyder tells Florence Fabricant he’s leased a spot at 188 Ludlow (apparently the ground-floor commercial space in the luxury apartment complex. “The Ludlow.”)
The new location will be five times larger than the current sliver of a space on Orchard. Snyder says they’ll be staying open past 6pm, perhaps as late as midnight on weekends. There will be, perhaps, 60 flavors available and about 15 seats.
The Times was told the Orchard location will stay open “at least for the summer.”
