Our friends at WNYC Radio and The Greene Space have alerted us of an opportunity for you to be noticed – while representing the borough of Manhattan (or better yet, let’s hope, by representing the Lower East Side!) BATTLE OF THE BOROUGHS, emceed by WQXR/Q2 host Terrance McKnight, is a talent showcase for the bands and ensembles, instrumentalists, singers, DJs, spoken word artists and performance artists of all genres that New Yorkers need to know about.
Each First Friday of the month, beginning in March, five to six acts from a select borough will perform in front of a live studio audience, duking it out for a spot in the Battle’s semi-final round. From there, one act from each borough will compete in the Ultimate Battle to win their own exclusive concert.
The winners will be selected by both the live studio audience and the online audience watching via live webcast. Online voting will be available for 48 hours. Borough winners will be posted on www.wnyc.org/thegreenespace the following Monday at 4pm EST.
For the “Ultimate Battle,” the winner will be selected by a luminary panel of judges, including WNYC radio hosts, distinguished artists, and industry representatives. The final winner will be awarded with a featured concert in The Greene Space, which includes a live webcast, a professional photo shoot, and HD-DVD and CD of their performance.
