The experimental performance group Waxfactory continues it’s Year 11 Retrospective at Abrons Arts Center tonight with five performances of a new re-imagining of QUARTET v4.0. Abrons writes: WaxFactory’s sci-fi QUARTET v4.0 stages East German playwright Heiner MĂĽller’s controversial text in a sterile, post-apocalyptic world that serves as the arena for the vicious endgames of its protagonists.
In WaxFactory’s production, the actors’ live performance is simultaneously broadcast with video images captured from multiple angles by surveillance cameras that are edited, processed, and projected in real time. Conceived and directed by Ivan Talijancic, and featuring performers Erika Latta and Thomas Peters, the premiere of QUARTET v4.0 is presented as part of Performing Revolution in Central and Eastern Europe, a festival coordinated by the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
