That scary blob of yellow means it’s going to be a snowy/soggy couple of days in the city. The forecast calls for the storm to intensify tonight and tomorrow, leaving us with 6-12 inches. Today’s high 36 degrees and winds could be gusting up to 30mph! The snow is supposed to let up early Saturday.

In the news today, Girls Prep has prevailed in its quest for expansion on the Lower East Side. Last night, the DOE’s Panel for Educational Policy approved proposals from Girls Prep and 12 other charter schools (we’ll have more on this story later). We’re also looking into growing concerns about the impact looming city/state budget cuts will have on many of the neighborhood’s after-school programs. Also today, look for our guide to Purim events taking place this weekend on the Lower East Side.  That’s it for now.
