Moments ago, Christine Quinn was re-elected speaker of the New York City Council. Only Councilmember Charles Barron voted against Quinn. In a speech before the vote, Barron said the time had come to choose a speaker representing the city's diverse populations. Several Barron supporters were escorted from the chambers after disrupting the proceedings.
