As the whole world knows by now, the New York State Senate yesterday rejected a bill that would have legalized gay marriage. Our state senator, Daniel Squadron, voted in favor of the legislation. Here are his remarks on the Senate floor:

I’m friends with Senator Squadron’s older brother, and my partner is from Central New York. Seeing a straight man in my peer group speak so passionately about allowing marriage for all gives me such great hope for the future of our country. Great job, Daniel!
