Preliminary Drawings Released for Eldridge Street Synagogue’s New Window

Must Read

Earlier this month, we reported on the new east window being designed for the Museum at Eldridge Street. At the time, the artist, Kiki Smith, and architect Deborah Gans, had not released the drawings depicting their preliminary design. But now we’re getting our first look at the concept, consisting of “a galaxy of golden stars against an undulating blue firmament.”

The drawings appeared first on the Designboom blog and are being posted here with permission from the Museum at Eldridge Street. The window will be installed next spring.  See more images after the jump.

One other note. The Museum is conducting a special tour on Wednesdays, taking visitors behind the scenes of the historic building’s 20-year restoration. The window is the last major piece of that restoration project. For more information on the tour, visit their web site.
