On Saturday, the LES Girls Club invites you to stop by their new cafe at the Bowery Poetry Club for the first annual "Holiday Cookie Swap and Benefit Bake-off." Volunteer bakers will be preparing their signature treats. $15 tickets include a tin to fill with cookies purchased for 50 cents and up, and a drink ticket to keep yourself warm with Mionetto Prosecco.
The creations will be judged by a celebrity panel, including Gina DePalma from Babbo; Myriam Eberhardt from DBGB Kitchen & Bar; Sue Torres from Sueños; and Nichelle Stephens of the blog "Cupcakes Take the Cake." The event is a fundraiser for "Celebrate Cafe," the new Girls Club venture that will train and employ at-risk teens in the culinary arts.
“This is a tough year to raise money," said Girls Club executive director Lyn Pentecost. "We are thrilled to collaborate with all of these great partners to create an event that is fun and raises much needed funds for Girls Club entrepreneurial training programs." The benefit takes place Saturday from 1-3pm. To buy tickets, visit the LES Girls Club web site.Tickets will also be available at the door. The Bowery Poetry Club is located at 308 Bowery (1st Street).
This was so much fun! And it’s a great charity org. Glad you covered it on your blog.
