The Hotel and Motel Trades Council and the UNITE HERE New York State
Council have announced its endorsements… There is a glaring omission in the HTC/UNITE HERE list: Councilman Alan Gerson… HTC and UNITE HERE are not alone in taking a pass on the 1st CD – at least for the moment. SEIU 1199 also has yet to choose sides in that race, although it too has endorsed in every other Manhattan Council contest. Ditto for the labor-backed Working Families Party.
That is because everyone is now finally realizing what a useless and ineffective council member Gerson has been for the last 4 years.
They are also learning he and his campaigners will commit ballot fraud and campaign finance violations to get him elected. This is not the kind of elected official and leader that CD1 needs in this time of fiscal crisis.
They are also learning he is closely linked to the Sheldon Silver political machine, the most corrupt organization since Tammany Hall.
