A group hoping to start up a new food co-op on the Lower East Side will hold a second organizational meeting tomorrow night. There was a large turnout for the initial meeting early last month. Since that time, the residents have established a steering committee to begin exploring how other food cooperatives work.
At tomorrow's meeting, open to anyone who's interested, there will be presentations from representatives of the Park Slope and East 4th Street co-ops.
Danny Rosenthal, an Educational Alliance vice president, initiated last month's meeting, after hearing numerous complaints from LES residents about the availability of fresh, sustainable and affordable food in the neighborhood.
The meeting takes place at 730pm at the Educational Alliance, 197 East Broadway. If you would like more information you can email organizer Brian Crowley at: bcrowley8@gmail.com, or Danny Rosenthal at Danny_Rosenthal@edalliance.org.
