Assemblyman Karim Camera, head of the Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislative Caucus, defended Sheldon Silver during a radio interview.  Camera said he doesn’t necessarily believe all the details in last week’s New York Times story blaming Silver for the 47 year delay in developing SPURA.  Separately, Silver’s spokesperson maintained the Speaker was not the problem. Michael Whyland said, the urban renewal site “remained undeveloped because of a failure to achieve a consensus at the community level about the area’s future.” (Observer)
