Last year, the property was listed for $7 million. On Friday owner Tony Powe told us he and the new owner just closed on the transaction. Due to the terms of their agreement, Powe was unable to disclose the purchaser or the purchase price.
They’re in the process of looking for operators to take over the two establishments. Barramundi is a Lower East Side institution, having started on Ludlow Street, and is one of the last “regular bars” on the LES. The clubby 2nd Floor on Clinton opened in 2010 and is now managed by Powe’s partners, Art & Spirit Mixology.
Powe emphasized that the venues would definitely be transitioning to new owners rather than closing. He decided to sell the businesses now to spend more time overseeing the Zipcard discount program, which he launched several years ago. Barramundi and 2nd Floor will be open for business under the current ownership until the end of June.
67 Clinton was converted to condos a few years ago. There are two residential units, including a 4-bedroom/2-bath duplex and a 2-bedroom/2-bath duplex with a private roof deck. The building is right across the street from 50 Clinton St., the luxury residential project about to break ground. Condos there start at just under $1 million.
