As this month marks 400 years since Henry Hudson sailed into New
York harbor, Tenement Talks will feature Russell Shorto tonight at 6:30p at the Tenement Museum. He is the author of Island at the Center of the World: The Epic Story of Dutch Manhattan,
which is one of the core books at the Tenement Museum Shop and focuses on the early days of New
Amsterdam.
Dear Russ Shorto: Are you an evangelical Christian? The work you’ve done is excellent. I came upon it when studying the 1638 settlement by the Swedes led by outstanding explorer of DE River Valley, Peter Minuit. I need all available on Minuit from those 12000 pages uncovered at the Albany library. I’m doing history work here in Wilmington, DE with designs under study to revive this city. I’m also studying the Huguenots.
