Our story focusing on the meeting last week to complain about the late night noise at the Thompson LES Hotel really struck a nerve. At least one neighbor has decided not to stick it out any longer. MattNYC left us this comment yesterday:
Thanks for the update. I live directly across from the pool area on the
fourth floor of 188 Orchard. My wife and I couldn't make the meeting,
but we're glad to see that something has be done. Sadly, we've had
enough of living on Orchard Street after more than six years. If the
construction at the hotel and the still unfinished building across the
street weren't enough with the destruction of the sidewalk and the
noise, now we have to deal with outdoor parties almost directly outside
our window. The gall of the hotel operator is amazing. What did they
think would happen? The LES was a great place to live, but making your
home in a nightlife district where even the businesses owners don't
care about the residents has just gotten so old.
