The early forecast says it’s going to be 85 degrees on Sunday. Not quite fall-like weather, but here’s one way to celebrate the new season: The First Annual Grand Street Oktoberfest is coming to the Lower East Side on Sunday.

The event has been organized by Jared Male, chef and owner of Randall’s Barbecue, one of the newer restaurants “East of Essex.” Here’s more:

The 1st annual “Grand Street Oktoberfest” is an event organized by a string of businesses on Grand Street with community in mind. New comers Randall’s Barbecue and Diller, as well as established neighborhood spots like Doughnut Plant, Kossar’s, and La Flaca, have gotten together and planned a day of food, drinks, festivities and fun. Local restaurants will be serving beer, wine, and food. The team from the Trader Joe’s on Grand Street is also excited to host a free mini pumpkin decorating activity. Snacks and juice will also be provided for the little ones. Grand Street, East of Essex, is an up and coming area for restaurants, bars, and nightlife. “I Can’t think of a better way to celebrate community than for all of these businesses to get together and plan a fun day for the neighborhood, I am excited to see it all come together.” Said organizer Jared Male of Randall’s Barbecue.

The event takes place Sunday, Sept. 21 from noon to 6 p.m. in the Hester Street Fair space (that’s on Essex Street at Hester Street).  Check out the Facebook invite for updates.
