Apparent Random Slashing Happened at Stanton and Chrystie Streets Saturday

Must Read

Police say a 34-year-old man was slashed in the face near Sara D. Roosevelt Park on Saturday afternoon in an apparent random attack.

It happened at Stanton and Chrystie streets at about 1:15 p.m. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment, and is expected to be ok. According to the Daily News, he told cops there was no interaction with the attacker before the incident. Channel 7 also covered the story. No description of the suspect or security camera video released by the NYPD so far.

During the summer, a 70-year-old man was arrested following the fatal stabbing of a younger man in the park. At the time, investigators said they believed the violent confrontation was connected to a dispute over the drug K2. Local residents have been saying for some time that drug use in and around the park has been on the rise.

Just a couple of days ago, the 5th Precinct posted a request for information from the public about a robbery that happened at Stanton and Chrystie streets October 4.
