Over at P.S. 110, they’re getting ready for a big weekend event: Lower Eats Side! There will be lots of food (family recipes from 25 countries) and music.

The Lower East Side’s historic Public School 110 (Florence Nightingale School) will hold an international food festival, ‘LOWER “EATS” SIDE,’ featuring home-cooked food from more than 25 countries, prepared by the school’s own parent chefs. The food festival will represent the different cultures and nationalities that make up the school today, and will be held at the school’s 1905 building at the eastern end of Delancey Street, rain or shine and open to the public. The PS110 parent rock band, “The Nightingales” (winners of NYC School District 1 Battle of the Bands) will be performing. Tickets are $10.
“We have one of the most diverse schools in New York City, and we’d like to celebrate this fact with a food festival that we think rivals Smorgasburg,” said Naama Laufer, PTA President. “We have students of Dominican, Serbian, Spanish, Danish, Belorussian, Trinidadian, Hungarian, Bolivian, Filipino, Japanese, German and many more backgrounds attending the school. The school’s diversity inspired us to celebrate the food and culture of the Lower East Side with a festival for the neighborhood.”
Heading the food fair will be P.S. 110 PTA treasurer and owner of the popular mac & cheese restaurant S’MAC, Sarita Ekya. “We are going to serve up some delicious home cooking from around the world prepared by our own P.S. 110 family chefs, so if you’re hungry, stop by and munch your way across the globe, while listening to some great music and letting the kids have some fun,” said Ms. Ekya.
The food festival will also feature a tag sale, raffles, family portraits and much more. The school first held this festival in 2015, to commemorate 110 years of P.S 110.
