Food Notes: McDonald’s Ribbon Cutting, Straylight, Swedish Candy

Here are some of the restaurant/nightlife items that have caught our eye recently:

–Believe it or not, there will be a ribbon cutting on Saturday at 1 p.m. to celebrate the gussied up McDonald’s at 114 Delancey St. According to the press release: “The McDonald’s restaurant located at the corner of Delancey and Essex invites guests to experience updates to the restaurant at its upcoming grand re-opening event. The restaurant recently underwent a five month renovation to reflect McDonald’s new restaurant experience, including new features like digital self-order kiosks, table service, and mobile ordering.” [In Box]

–Straylight opens in the old Le Baron space in Chinatown, “with less fanfare and fewer Scarlett Johansson sightings.” [New York Times]

–The Lower East Side now has a Swedish candy store, BonBon, at 130 Allen St. [New York Times]

–Boys Don’t Cry: Now open at 22 Orchard St., serving good beer, cocktails and dumplings from Nom Wah Tea Parlor. [Instagram]

–Jack Mulqueen and Thatcher Shultz, open “Make Believe,” a rooftop bar at the Sixty LES.
