Chinatown Leader, Dr. Herbert Kee, Dies at the Age of 88

NYT-0002369921-KEEH_22_166534782.1_191019Dr. Herbert Kee, a longtime community leader in Chinatown, has died at the age of 88. According to his family, Dr. Kee passed on March 15 due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease.

He treated patients from an office on Oliver Street for decades. Dr. Kee was an early supporter of the Chinatown Health Clinic, and continued to volunteer there into his 80s. Along with his wife, Virginia Kee, he founded the Chinese-American Planning Council, one of the neighborhood’s largest social service non-profits. Dr. Kee was also a longtime district leader in the 64th Assembly District.

A memorial service will be held on April 7th at 3 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church, 12 West 12th St.
