There was a vigil held in Chinatown’s Kimlau Square today for Peter Wang, the 15-year-old student who died holding the door open for classmates during last week’s Florida school shooting.

Wang, a JROTC cadet, was born in Brooklyn. He dreamed of returning to New York to attend West Point. Today’s vigil was organized by the United Fujian Association. Thanks to Karlin Chan for sending along this photo.

Wang was one of 17 victims in the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. A White House petition to give him a full honors military burial has more than 68,000 signatures. The U.S. Military Academy at West Point announced that Wang has been posthumously admitted to the Class of 2025.
