–A state audit shows that some people are being allowed to skip waiting lists to obtain apartments in the Knickerbocker Village complex on the Lower East Side. In one case, a building employee was given a penthouse apartment. Knickerbocker Village management said the decision was made so additional staff would be available in the event of an emergency. –Block association president Mike Schweinsberg says a man displaying  Confederate flags in his windows on East 8th Street should not be evicted. He should be provided with counseling. “This is not someone whose intent is to inflame passions or anything like that,” said Schweinsberg, “He is a mental health concern.
