As we reported yesterday, police are looking for a man suspected of putting a dog in a suitcase and then throwing the suitcase in a dumpster near the Gouverneur Gardens housing complex. Cops are now circulating a “Wanted” poster and have identified the suspect.
He’s 22-year-old Bryan Lepe, who was seen on surveillance video Oct. 19 leaving 645 water St. with the suitcase. The emaciated male pit bull was found in the dumpster behind 7 Gouverneur Slip East. The dog was apparently in the suitcase for about two days.
If you have any information that might be helpful to police, call Detective John Glynn of the Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad at 646-610-7272.
UPDATED 10/28: DNA Info reported that the dog’s owner has been identified as 21-year-old Alec Litzinger. Police believe he “may have been complicit in the cruel treatment of the dog.”
