The Museum at Eldridge Street (12 Eldridge St.) bring its beloved block party, the Egg Rolls, Egg Creams and Empanadas Festival, back this Sunday afternoon from noon to 4:00 p.m.

The festival on Eldridge Street (between Canal and Division Streets) is a celebration of the classic cultural collide that happens within a few block radius in most neighborhoods in New York City. A longtime favorite of locals and tourists alike, you’ll find plenty of family fun inside the Museum and out on the street. There are performances, interactive Jewish, Chinese and Puerto Rican activities, plus plenty of food samples, highlighting the different tastes and traditions from each culture.

Highlights include klezmer, cantorial, Peking opera, bomba and plena music; Hebrew and Chinese scribal art, yarmulke making, Chinese and Puerto Rican mask making; games of Mah Jongg; and community arts and crafts. Kosher egg rolls, egg creams, empanadas and other traditional foods will be for sale.

The festival was originally named for two foods – the egg roll and the egg cream – that are associated with the Jewish and the Chinese communities of the neighborhood. Last year, the museum added empanadas to the title, extending the celebration to the Puerto Rican community in the area.
