The 5th and final New York Funny Songs Fest kicks off this Thursday, May 19th at The Unicorn (105 Henry St. at Pike St.). Known as “NYC’s only comedy music festival,” the array of musical comedians hit the boards for three days of non-stop shows at venues throughout the L.E.S. (and in Brooklyn) featuring more than 65 participants.

Founder and comedienne Jessica Delfino says this will be the last go around for the festival.

Highlights of the 2016 fest include opening night at The Unicorn followed by a secret karaoke after party, the Annual Unicorn Parade with a mini-tour of Chinatown on Friday, followed by the infamous “50 Funny Songs” event hosted by Carolyn Castiglia and featuring 50 comedic musicians performing back to back at Littlefield in Brooklyn, alongside Bitchcraft at Union Hall, a long-running witchy-esque variety show hosted by Selena Coppock and Lauren Maul.

On Saturday, an all afternoon brunch show called “20 Titillating Minutes” offers long sets by performers over a pancake breakfast ($10 includes pancakes) with an industry panel to follow. The evening wraps up with “A Night of Dirty Songs,” with Delfino and her renowned “Dirty Folk Rock” songs at the helm. A full schedule of events can be found here.

Next on the agenda for Delfino is her new solo show, “Before My Water Breaks,” premiering at Joe’s Pub on July 23rd.  Delfino notes she will then “commit to her most intense creation yet,” a baby son, due in late August.
