Police are looking for a suspect wanted in the robbery and attempted robbery of several women on the Lower East Side.
This image was taken by a security camera before he targeted a 23-year-old woman in an apartment building elevator December 23 at Columbia and East Houston streets. He ran off with her purse. Cops believe he tried to take items from women in two other instances, but fled empty-handed.

At a building on Henry and Montgomery streets, police say, the suspect followed a 30-year-old woman into a stairwell and grabbed her from behind. He demanded money but she refused. According to DNA Info, he fled after the woman threw hot tea at him. In another incident on December 28, the man put an 88-year-old woman in a head lock after she left the Western Union on Essex Street. He attacked her in the entrance of her building lobby.
The suspect is described as between 30-35 years old, 6’0″ and 170 lbs. If you can help with this investigation, call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
