It’s definitely a hot topic: how to improve city bus service. Coming up November 17, State Sen. Daniel Squadron is hosting an MTA Bus Town Hall Meeting. The event is meant to build off of conversations that were started at his annual Community Convention. Do you want to see more frequent buses on a certain route? Are there other service problems on the Lower East Side? Here’s an opportunity to speak out. The meeting will take place at the Manny Cantor Center, 197 East Broadway, at 6:30 p.m. Squadron is sponsoring the meeting along with other elected officials and all three downtown community boards. Contact the senator’s office for more information.

  1. The 14 D bus can easily be extended to service the Grand St. coops. Instead of terminating at Delancey St,, it should come down to Grand St., then follow the route of the Houston St. crosstown back west. This would add four blocks to its route to bring better bus service to thousands of people. And yet, in a letter to me, the MTA said it cannot do this because of geographical considerations, which are bogus and reflect a lack of knowledge of LES geography. I plan to ask about this at the meeting. Join 200 others and sign the petition to make better bus service available here. https://www.change.org/p/carmen-bianco-bring-better-bus-service-to-the-grand-st-coops-by-rebalancing-service-between-the-14-a-and-14-d-lines
