Halloween is s still a week away but we get things started early on the Lower East Side. Here’s The Lo-Down on what’s happening over the weekend.

–The biggie is, of course, the 25th annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, the biggest event of its kind in the universe. It takes place Saturday from noon-3 p.m. in Tompkins Square Park. No pre-registration necessary. The runway show starts at noon.

–After the parade, there will be “After Pawty” at Ruff Club, which is located at 34 Avenue A. Stop by from 2-5 p.m.

–Also on Saturday, the Hester Street Fair is holding a Halloween Fest. There will be lots of activities for families, including face painting, pumpkin decorating and lots of treats sprinkled throughout the vendor stalls. Gates open at 11 a.m. CORRECTION: This event is next weekend. Our apologies.

–On Sunday from 2-4 p.m., Friends of Gulick Park are holding their annual Pumpkin & Bulbs autumn gathering. There will be pumpkin painting for the kids and plenty of bulbs to put in the ground. Gulick Park is located at Delancey and Willett streets.
