Brunch with a Mission: Eat, Drink, Help Homeless Dogs

Must Read

ruffclubfundraiser

Our friends over at Ruff Club have teamed up with several LES restaurants to raise funds for Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue, a nonprofit organization that rehomes dogs pulled from rural shelters in the South.

The event is Sunday, April 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. Hosted at Ruff Club’s headquarters at 34 Ave. A, it features food from Tiny’s Giant Sandwich Shop, Davidovich Bakery, Schapiro’s and the Brindle Room. A suggested donation of $15-$45 at the door also includes an open bar of bloody marys, as well as beer from Bronx Brewery. There will be a silent auction of donated items, including gift certificates for local hair salons, yoga classes and restaurants.

Proceeds go toward vaccinations, spay/neuter, flea, tick and heartworm prevention and other health care for the dogs, who are placed in foster homes in the city for socialization and training before adoption. The rescue group takes in and adopts out dogs of all breeds and all needs, including some with serious medical issues, such as Christy Turlington, a black mixed-breed dog (pictured below) who was run over by a truck in Alabama  and has needed multiple complicated surgeries. (Read Christy’s story here. See an album of dogs available for adoption here.)

Please note: While Ruff Club is a social club for dogs and their humans during normal operations, this event is “hoomanz only.”
