Photography lovers, don’t miss the first-ever LES Photo Walk this Sunday, April 13th from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The brainchild of Lesley Heller, owner of Lesley Heller Workspace at 54 Orchard St., the Photo Walk includes twenty-seven unique Lower East Side galleries that currently feature photography.
Heller, who worked with the LES BID to organize, promote and enlist LES gallery participation in the photo crawl, says the Photo Walk coincides with the AIPAD (Association of International Photography Art Dealers) Photography Show happening April 10-13, which is an event that draws collectors from all over the world.
The idea behind the event? “We’re trying to get collectors and photography lovers into the neighborhood,” Heller says. “We want to start to introduce the idea that there’s photography on the Lower East Side and get the collectors used to coming downtown. We want to build up the recognition for photography on the LES.”
