We’ll be at the East River Bandshell on Wednesday to see Canadian crooner and video-making goofball (an artist on everyone’s “you gotta check him out” list) Mac DeMarco.
He’ll be performing as part of City Parks’ free Summer Stage concert series. The 22-year-old “off-kilter pop” star, whose first album came out in 2012, has earned praise from critics and quite a bit of buzz lately, garnering a “Best New Music” designation from Pitchfork Media and a #1 Most Popular Show This Week award from OhMyRockness.
Other free shows at East River Park this week: a special 30th anniversary screening of the classic Hip-Hop film, “Wild Style” tonight, a celebration of the acclaimed hip-hop brand, Lyricist Lounge featuring Pete Rock and DJ Premier, tomorrow night andvLarry Harlow and The Latin Legends Band on Thursday.
