Police are looking for help in finding a man who attacked a woman on the Lower East Side yesterday. It happened at around 3 a.m. (Saturday into Sunday), when the victim was followed into the LaGuardia Houses on Cherry Street. According to police, the suspect got in an elevator with a 23-year old woman and tried to rape her. The victim was taken to Beth Israel Hospital, treated and released. The man is believed to be about 5’7″ tall and around 30 years old. At the time of the crime, he was wearing a plaid shirt, jeans and a knit hat.
