Lower East Side Pickle Day is coming up this Sunday on Orchard Street. This year, the Lower East Side BID is folding the event into its DayLife street festival franchise, which was started this past summer to reinvigorate foot traffic in the neighborhood’s legendary but struggling shopping district.
Guss’ Pickles, which fled to Brooklyn three years ago, will be back for the big event, along with the Pickle Guys, Rick’s Picks and many others. There will also be a Halloween costume contest, a home pickling contest, ping pong and street hoops sponsored by Basketball City and, apparently, some rapping grandmas and DJ’s in front of Tammany Hall.  Pickle Day takes place from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday on Orchard, between East Houston and Delancey. Click through for the complete lineup.Â
