New York’s Julie Ann Bee is the name, brain, and voice behind the exquisite Sea of Bees. A mix of atmospheric compositions and grounded lyricism, Sea of Bees’ music is all the more transfixing due to Julie Ann Bee’s unique and truly charming vocal presence. FREE//154 Ludlow St.
AMERICAN BABIES– Saturday Jan. 30 | 9pm at Rockwood Music Hall
American Babies are so fun to listen to. They’re kind of a throwback, but kinda not. There is no doubt that there is homage paid to everything from the Allman Bros. to Don Mclean to ELO in their sound, stirring up that sweet nostalgic feeling, but that just means that they do what they do pretty damn well. THE HOT STIFFS – Sat Jan. 28 | 9pm at Pianos
Rockabilly Surf-Punk. That’s what I’m calling the music of the Hot Stiffs. It’s sweaty, it’s fast, it’s loud, but it’s got a nice twang to it. From Bloomington, Indiana, the Hot Stiffs managed to make their mark on many of the louder venues around downtown, and this time they’re doing it up right at good ‘ol Pianos. $8//158 Ludlow St.
