New Year’s Eve on the LES, Part II

Must Read

Last week, we started a collection of options for closing out 2011 with a bang here on the Lower East Side. New Year’s Eve is now two weeks from Saturday, so we’ve got another installment of ideas for the big night. Send us your event at tips@thelodownny.com and we’ll put it in the next roundup.

Bikram Yoga: Never mind that cool bar scene and all that eating and whatnot; ring in 2012 with some healthy hot yoga. The Allen Street studio is hosting a class at 10:30 p.m., promising “prizes, sweat and music galore” with a champagne savasana at midnight. Tickets are $25 and proceeds benefit Street Yoga. More details here.

Co-op Food & Drink: Celebrating its first New Year’s Eve, the Rivington Street restaurant is offering a premium open bar from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., passed hors d’oeuvres and desserts, a multi-course dinner by Chef John Keller. There will be music by Michael Baltra and live viewing of the Times Square countdown. Tickets and info: 212-796-8040 // ap@guerrillaculinary.com.

Dixon Place: Ring in “a great cosmic shift” 2012 with “hot queers, old friends and new lovers.” The Chrystie Street bar and lounge is offering an evening of “comedy, music and burlesque plus a hot, sexy DJ all night long.” Doors open at 9 p.m., show starts at 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door, cash only.

  1. Doing yoga on New Year’s Eve is certainly not what we’re used to from a New York celebration, but we’re definitely intrigued enough to ring in the New Year in a “healthy hot” way! But then again, an open bar and multi-course dinner sounds more like our kind of New York City!
