On Saturday, December 7th at 7:30 pm, Metropolitan Playhouse, an integral part of the East Village theater scene and situated in the heart of New York's historical Yiddish Theatre district, will present The Murad-Zinger Duo, Nicole Murad, vocalist and Pablo Zinger, piano, in the Manhattan premiere of IKH ZING �" The Yiddish Tradition, a celebration of Yiddish culture from Europe and the Americas through song.
The program will include old traditional songs, favorites from Poland and Ukraine such as Oyfn Pripetchik and Kinder Yorn, humorous songs, ancient ballads, and passionate tangos by Benzion Witler, Abraham Ellstein, and Alexander Olshanetsky, as well as two English language selections heavily influenced by Yiddish culture: Ruby and Kalmar’s “The Sheik of Avenue B”, and Leonard Bernstein's “I am easily assimilated”.
