F Train Station Attacker Sentenced to 15 Years

Following up on yesterday’s news that Raul Barrera will do 25 years to life for the murder of Sarah Coit, we have more news from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office this morning about another high-profile crime in the neighborhood.

Godfrey Molemohi, 54, was sentenced earlier this week to 15 years in prison on two counts of first-degree assault and two other lesser charges stemming from attacks on three victims — two women and a man who tried to intervene — in the F train station at East Houston Street and Second Avenue in September 2010, DA Cyrus Vance announced.

Suspect Arrested in Subway Station Attack

Police have made an arrest in the attack of a woman in the East Broadway subway station last month. 41-year old Ismael Acevedo was taken into custody and charged with assault and reckless endangerment, in connection with the February 4th incident.

The victim, LES resident Sabrina Scott, was punched and then fell onto the tracks as a Good Samaritan wrestled with her attacker. Fortunately, Derrick Oakes (the Good Samaritan) was able to pull Scott up before a train came along.

Police say Acevedo has no known address and is apparently homeless.
