Multiple Parents’ Choice Award winner Robbi K has been keeping the beat for 33 years and this Sunday at Manny Cantor Center she kicks off her retirement tour. Backed by a four-member band, which includes her Grammy-winning bassist husband Bakithi Kumalo, whose longstanding association with Paul Simon is a story unto itself, Robbi K will get silly (“Happy, Happy, Happy, Happy, Happy!”), get down (“Feel da’ Beat”), and get sweet (“Favorite Things”).
Her interactive concerts combine theater, puppets, jazz, pop, and world music grooves. As always, Robbi encourages the audience to open themselves to the sheer joy of music. We hate to see Robbi K retire, but good thing for us here on the LES, we are the first stop on her goodbye tour!
