Good Morning!

Sunset on Grand Street by Pat Arnow

There is a lot of rain in the forecast today, but at least it’s warming up.  Look for a high of 57℉ with sunshine on the way tomorrow. (Hello March!)  Coming up later – a preview of tonight’s CB3 SPURA Committee meeting, the first gathering of the redevelopment panel since the passage of historic planning”guidelines last month.”

Valentine’s Day 2011 – Lower East Side Style

Valentine Girls

Valentine’s Day 2011 is already history. But we couldn’t resist posting this photo from Pat Arnow — three ladies celebrating the day in style as they cross Delancey Street (near Essex). Send your photos to us at: info@thelodownny.com.

Good Morning!

Manhattan Bridge Sunset

Snow day! New York City’s public schools are closed today, as well as all non-emergency government offices. Also, city bus service is canceled. Central Park has received more than 15 inches, making this month the snowiest January on record. The snow will be ending in the next few hours — partly cloudy skies today with a high of 35. We’ll have plenty of snow pictures throughout the day (but we just couldn’t resist beginning this wintry morning with Pat Arnow’s spectacular picture of the sunset over the Manhattan Bridge). Enjoy the day!

The Lunar Eclipse – From The Lower East Side

Big thanks to photographer and L.E.S. resident Pat Arnow for sharing these amazing photos of last night’s lunar eclipse.  They were taken from her balcony just hours before the winter solstice was about to begin. She must have had to bundle up!  (More after the jump.)
