Widespread hysteria is gripping New York City, or at least local news media outlets, as a blizzard of allegedly “historic proportions” descends the Northeast.  Depending on which forecast you believe, we could get anywhere between 6 inches (not such a big deal) to 15 inches. The brunt of the storm is expected after about 7 o’clock tonight.

Amtrak is suspending service out of Penn Station to Boston and other northern locales effective midday.  At the moment, the MTA has no plans to cut service.  Hundreds of flights out of New York’s airports have already been canceled this morning.  Not much in the way of LES cancellations yet, but here’s what we know:

• All NYCHA senior centers will close at 3 p.m. Community centers close at 7 p.m.
• The Stanton Street CSA has rescheduled its distribution from Saturday to Sunday.
• All public school after school programs are canceled.

UPDATE: 11:45AM

• Munch Gallery has postponed the opening of Bubi Canal’s solo show scheduled for this evening. It will now take place on Wednesday, Feb. 13th from 7 – 9 pm.

UPDATE: 2:05PM

• All Dixon Place events scheduled for tonight, Februry 8th, have been cancelled.
• Henry Street Settlement’s Good Companions Senior Center will be closed Sunday.
• The Houston Street Center closes at 5 p.m. – reopens tomorrow at noon. All Saturday am classes cancelled.

UPDATE: 3:33PM

• Museum of Chinese in America closes at 4, and will be closed tomorrow.
• The Tenement Museum will not open until noon tomorrow.
